How do I apply for an Erasmus+ grant?

When can I apply for an Erasmus+ grant?

You can apply for an Erasmus+ grant when your stay abroad has been approved. Please note that it is important that you also submit a learning agreement. The order in which you submit your learning agreement or your grant application does not matter.

Which factors should I consider when applying for an Erasmus grant?

Keep a close eye on your Hanze email. Your grant application will develop during your entire stay abroad and sometimes even afterwards. We will regularly ask you to add or change data. If new information is required, or an answer needs to be adjusted, we will let you know by email.

Report changes in time. Not only with regard to your grant, but also to your Learning Agreement. You can always find your grant at your stay abroad request.

How to apply

  1. To apply for a grant, open Osiris student (via this link).
  1. Click the button 'Further actions available'. The stay abroad application will open.
  1. If your request for a stay abroad is approved, you will see, among others, the option 'Further actions'. By clicking 'Erasmus+ Study Grant', you can start the grant application.
  2. On the next screen, select the correct start and end dates.

It is of vital importance that you provide the correct start and end dates. This is how we determine the correct amount of this grant. If you provide too long a period, you run the risk of having to repay part of the advance payment afterwards. The start date is always the first day on which education abroad begins. Likewise, the end date is the last day on which you receive education abroad. This end date can sometimes be difficult to pinpoint. Sometimes the educational institution abroad uses an end date for the education period that includes resits. In that case, we advise you to use an earlier end date (approximately two weeks). When it becomes clear what the actual end date will be, you can let us know.

  1. Click on the arrow to proceed to the next screen.
  1. On the next screen you can fill in your banking information. If you have an IBAN bank account number, only the first four fields need to be filled (the rest is optional). If you are using a non IBAN bank account number, fill out all fields.
  1. Answer the questions on the next page(s). Do you need to change something on a previous page? Click the 'Previous' button1. Have you answered every question correctly? Click the button labelled 'Next'2 to proceed to the next page.
  2. After you have answered all questions, you will see an overview of all the information you have provided. Review these thoroughly. Need to adjust something? Click the back-arrow to navigate to the corresponding page.
  3. Once you've completed the initial part of the application, click the button 'Submit'3.

After clicking 'Submit', your application will be sent to the Erasmus+ team of the Hanze. If your application has been received in order, you will receive an email from us confirming this. Your application will then be processed as soon as possible. Sometimes we have to reject an answer. Should this occur in your application, you will receive an email from us with a request to adjust the answer. In the application you will see why your answer was rejected.
